Budoucnost placení / The Future of Payments

More and more customers are making use of deferred payments for purchase. They want to be sure that they can check the ordered goods before payment. So they do not have to pay before delivery and do not have blocked money when they want to return the goods. In Europe, the Klarna platform is the most used for deferred payments, but it is not available in Central Europe. Therefore MALL.cz came up with its own deferred payment method called MALL Pay

Vůbec první platba kreditní kartou proběhla v roce 1979, když společnost Visa představila svůj karetní terminál. První online platební služba pak začala fungovat o 15 let později, když Stanford Federal Credit Union zřídila a nabídnula možnost internetových bankovních služeb všem svým členům.

S řešením přišla platforma Klarna a její hladké a snadné metody odložené platby.

No a právě proto MALL.cz přišel se svou vlastní metodou odložené platby jménem MALL Pay. Je to jednoduší než kdy dřív. Stačí si ve způsobech platby zvolit (ať jste či nejste registrovaní) „MALL Pay – odložená platba“ jako vaší platební metodu, vyplnit číslo vašeho mobilního telefonu pro ověření a je to! Víc opravdu není třeba a celá služba je navíc zcela zdarma. S MALL Pay už nebudete muset nikdy dávat dopravním společnostem 40 Kč za dobírku.

Budoucnost platebních metod jde ruku v ruce s technickým pokrokem. Konec platebních terminálů, jen propojené chytré telefony? Platby skrze sociální sítě? Placení přes bluetooth majáky v obchodech a další platby rychlejší než mrknutí oka?

The first credit card payments emerged in 1979, when Visa introduced their card terminal. The first online payment services started to operate 15 years later when Stanford Federal Credit Union was established and offered online internet banking services to all its members. Nowadays, customers can pay with cards almost everywhere and online payments and banking is recognized as a standard for most retailers.

When we look at the data of products bought online, we see that in United Kingdom 94% of online transactions are made through online payment systems, direct apps, or internet banking. In France, 52% of the transactions are made directly with credit or debit card. When we look at central Europe, the data is a little bit different. In Poland, just 77% of payments are made directly online. When we look further, we see that the oldest method, Cash on delivery (dobírka) is still quite popular, with 24% of payments made with this method. In Czech Republic and Slovakia, Cash on delivery is the most popular payment method. In Czech Republic we see that this method is still used by 34% of the customers, in Slovakia numbers for 2015 showed that 50% of the customers are still buying through cash on delivery. People in Central Europe want to receive their parcel first and then pay for it, even when the delivery companies add a surcharge. How can we make it cheaper for customers?

There are a few issues with online payments for customers. Customers generally don’t want to pay to companies they don’t trust, they also want to see and test the product before purchase. Card payment with certain e-shops can be unreliable and there is some worry (not unwarranted) that it could be a scam. Also, if you aren’t sure of the sizing of a product there are only a few options to mitigate the cost of buying the wrong size. Buying a few of the same products all at once in various sizes and return the sizes that don’t fit, or buy certain sizes of the product individually and return items one by one until you find one that fits. Neither of these systems is optimal. With the former, you have two to four weeks with money for multiple products that is unavailable until the product is returned. With the latter, there could be multiple weeks of you not having the product because the correct size has not been delivered. Both of these processes are costly for the customer and the retailer in both time and money.

So, what if someone wants to try multiple products and keep and pay for the one they like? The solution to this problem is presented by Klarna and their smooth and easy methods of payment and postponed payments. Customers pay 14 days after the product is delivered and there is no registration needed. If the customer is not satisfied, the product can be returned and the customer is not charged. Around 40% of the total online sales in Sweden are made through the Klarna platform, and this platform operates in 11 countries, but Klarna is not available in Central Europe.

This is why Mall is introducing its own payment method called MALL Pay. No payment before delivery, no delivery surcharges, and no need to pay to return items. Even when you don´t have money to pay for your order, you can postpone your payment up to 14 days after you ordered your goods. The process is easier than it has ever been. Whether you’re registered with MALL Pay or not, you can select postponed payment as your payment method, verify with your mobile number, and that’s it! Nothing else is needed to finish the order. On top of that, the whole service is free. So, instead of spending 40 CZK on a delivery service, why not order through MALL Pay?

The future of payment is even more connected with technology. There’s no need for payment terminals anymore, payments can be made through connected smartphones, social media, Bluetooth-enabled beacon payments in stores, and even faster payment methods are yet to come.
